About the AbilityOne Program
The AbilityOne program is a federal initiative that helps individuals who have severe disabilities find employment by working for non-profit agencies that sell products or services to the U.S. government. The initiative works by requiring government agencies to purchase selected products and services from nonprofit organizations that employ such individuals.
AbilityOne thus creates jobs and training opportunities for people who are blind or who have other severe disabilities, empowering them to lead more productive and independent lives. The program currently employs more than 45,000 people who are blind or have other severe disabilities.
